Gallery: Boys Soccer Tryouts

Boys soccer tryouts took place Aug. 18–21. On the first day, athletes were divided into two groups: freshmen and sophomores who played on the blue or black team the previous year, and returning junior varsity, or varsity players. The first and second days were split, with one group trying out in the main gym on the first day and the upper turf field on the second day. The second group practiced both days from 7–8:45 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex, ending with full scrimmages. On the third day, both groups trained together at SM East, showcasing juggling skills, shuttle runs, 40-yard dashes and 10 vs. 10 scrimmages. The final day featured three 11 vs. 11 games among three teams, shortened due to Back-to-School Night at 6:30 p.m., which required coaches Jamie Kelly and Adam Cumley to return to their classrooms.

Will Griffith, Online Photo Editor

Entering his sixth semester on staff, senior Will Griffith is excited to take on the role of Head Online Photo Editor. When he’s not making saves as a goalkeeper on the soccer field, he’s behind the camera shooting sports and other stories for The Harbinger. You can also find him up late editing photos and posting galleries or relaxing with friends while playing video games and soccer.

Addie Clark, Photo Editor

Entering her third year on staff and maybe final year on staff, joking. Junior Addie Clark is excited to continue her role as Assistant Photo Editor. This year, she is excited to shoot swim & dive, design more photo stories and of course, feast on deadline diners. When Addie is not waiting for Bridge to load, you can find her spending money at Yogurtini, hanging out with her friends, at swim practice, or stressing about school.

Maggie Rogers, Staff Photographer

Sophomore Maggie Rogers is looking forward to heading into this new year as a photographer on the Harbinger staff. You can usually find her at Overland Park Racquet Club or doing homework from her chemistry class. If she’s not there, she’s either at Swig with friends or shopping in Town Center.

Sophia Cicero, Assistant Photo Editor

Starting her very first year on staff as a photographer, sophomore Sophia Cicero is looking forward to growing and learning more about photography. When she isn’t up late editing photos or uploading galleries, you can find her at the gym working out, scooping ice cream at work, or playing basketball with her friends.

Zac Russell, Promotion Manager

Entering his second year on the Harbinger staff, junior Zac Russell is fired up to be a part of this awesome team as a photo mentor. When Zac isn’t procrastinating his Harbinger homework or dashing around town to take photos, you can find him conducting shenanigans with his friends, ordering in the nearest Chipotle line, or jamming out to Morgan Wallen! Zac can’t wait to learn many new ways to capture the best photos and be a part of this awesome staff!

Charlotte Walton, Photo Mentor

Starting her first year on the Harbinger staff, sophomore Charlotte Walton is so excited to be on the photography staff. Outside of Harbinger, she is involved in Girls Tennis and NCL. When Charlotte is not taking pictures, you can find her hanging out with friends and family, playing tennis, working and walking her dogs. She is excited for all the free food at deadlines and for all the new opportunities!

Simon Shawver, Staff Photographer

Junior Simon Shawver is very excited to be starting his second year on Harbinger as a photographer. Outside of taking pictures, Simon likes fishing, playing baseball, being with friends and family, eating, and watching TV.
