The SM East gymnastics team competed at state on Oct. 26, earning third place and the first ever East state title in gymnastics. The Lancers had six gymnasts competing at the meet, juniors Andi Prendiville, Kara Parrett, Phoebe Kanada and seniors Ashley Freund, Claire Rogers and Zoe Chaney.
Starting the meet on beam, junior Andi Prendiville had the highest score out of the Lancers with a score of 9.25. The second event the Lancers competed in was floor, and senior Claire Rogers scored 9.65 — making her score the highest on the team for this event, earning her sixth place overall. After a lunch break, the gymnasts competed in their highest scoring event of the day: vault. They scored a team score of 28.55. Junior Andi Prendiville had the highest score of the team with a 9.875, putting her second place overall on that apparatus. Senior Claire Rogers also placed third overall on vault with a score of 9.775. After five hours, the Lancers competed in their last event: Uneven Bars. This was the Lancer’s lowest scoring apparatus, scoring only 24.8.
Overall, the Lancers ended the meet with five individual medals and a final score of 107.5
