Gallery: Boys Varsity Basketball Falls to Lawrence Free State 49-46

In their last home game of the season, the boys varsity basketball team competed against Lawrence Free State on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The Lancers fell behind at the end of the first half — entering halftime with a score of 35-29. During halftime, the Lancer Dancers held their senior night honoring seniors Bella Hakes, Laynie Manning, Marin Mcelhinney and Liv Noble. After their senior night they preformed their hiphop routine. At the end of the fourth quarter with about four minutes left, the Lancers scored 13 points but were unable to outscore the Firebirds, ultimately being defeated 49-46. The team’s record now sits at 11-6.

The boys varsity basketball team’s next game will be against SM West on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at SM West.

About the Contributors

Mason Sajna, Video Editor

As a fourth year harbinger staffer, senior Mason Sajna is excited to be a leader on staff this year as a Video Editor, Photo Mentor and Equipment Manager. When he isn’t in the J room editing a video or trying to find some tripod piece, Mason is running as a varsity track and cross country runner and is in five AP classes. When things finally slow down, Mason likes to spend his free time with his friends or just hang out at home.

Amelie Wong, Online Photo Editor

Senior Amelie Wong is entering her third and final year on staff as Harbinger’s first ever head online photo editor. Though she is still trying to figure out all of the responsibilities for her new role, she is so excited to see what new challenges this year brings. When Amelie is not in the J-room you can probably find her at Target buying more Red Bull or Starbucks getting her third coffee of the day.

Lyla Weeks, Assistant Digital Media Editor

Going into her fourth year on the Harbinger as an assistant social media editor, designer, and design mentor, she is looking forward to her final year on staff. Outside of the J-Room, you can find Lyla dancing for the Lancer Dancers as one of the Varsity captains, volunteering through NCL and SME Share, studying for AP classes, or hanging out with her friends and family.

Alex Sajna, Video Editor

Working on his third year on Harbinger staff, senior Alex Sajna is thrilled to lead the video team as a Video Editor and take pictures as a Photographer. Besides Harbinger, Alex runs cross country and track, takes AP classes and works part time. When he’s not in the J-room, you can find Alex working on his car, making up a cross country practice late at night, or hanging out with family and friends.

Caroline Hoffman, Staff Photographer

Sophomore Caroline Hoffman is excited to start her second year on the Harbinger staff as a staff photographer. You will often find Caroline practicing dances for her studio and dance team and taking photos of her friends with her mini camera. Caroline loves hanging out with friends, volunteering through NCL (National Charity League). Caroline can’t wait to show how truly amazing Shawnee Mission East is through her camera.
