Gallery: Boys Varsity Soccer Falls to Rockhurst 3-2 in a penalty shootout, in the Final Round of the KAMO Tournament.

The Lancers faced off against Rockhurst in the first varsity soccer game against them since 1998 in the final round of the KAMO Tournament. During the first half of the game, neither team was able to score and make it on the board. Continuing into the second half, the score stayed at 0-0 at the end of regulation, going straight into a penalty shootout. Junior Quinn McCarthy was the first to attempt to score during the shootout, followed by senior team captains Wesley Cribb, Beck Rettenmaier and Connor Neusel and ending with junior George Hartman. In the end the Lancers fell to Rockhurst, only able to make two out of the five penalty goals. The team’s record now sits at 2-1.

Varsity is scheduled to play their next game on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. against SM Northwest at SMAC.

Amelie Wong, Online Photo Editor

Senior Amelie Wong is entering her third and final year on staff as Harbinger’s first ever head online photo editor. Though she is still trying to figure out all of the responsibilities for her new role, she is so excited to see what new challenges this year brings. When Amelie is not in the J-room you can probably find her at Target buying more Red Bull or Starbucks getting her third coffee of the day.

Riley Scott, Photo Editor

Entering her third and final year on staff, senior Riley Scott could not be more thrilled to be one of the Head Photographer Editors. You can often times find Riley cheering on the sidelines of football games, diving at KU or nannying after school. Riley is also involved with Link Crew and NHS. In her free time she loves driving around listening to Taylor Swift, rewatching Gossip Girl or hanging around the pool with her friends.

Mary Gagen, Staff Writer

Beginning her senior year and third year on the Harbinger staff, Mary is psyched to be a writer, and videographer! Mary loves spending time with her friends and family. Aside from Harbinger, she’s a cadet teacher, a swimmer and an AP and IB student. She’s a self-proclaimed energy-drink lover, a Chick-Fil-A enthusiast and considers herself a coffee connoisseur.

Will Griffith, Online Photo Editor

Entering his sixth semester on staff, senior Will Griffith is excited to take on the role of Head Online Photo Editor. When he’s not making saves as a goalkeeper on the soccer field, he’s behind the camera shooting sports and other stories for The Harbinger. You can also find him up late editing photos and posting galleries or relaxing with friends while playing video games and soccer.

Mason Sajna, Video Editor

As a fourth year harbinger staffer, senior Mason Sajna is excited to be a leader on staff this year as a Video Editor, Photo Mentor and Equipment Manager. When he isn’t in the J room editing a video or trying to find some tripod piece, Mason is running as a varsity track and cross country runner and is in five AP classes. When things finally slow down, Mason likes to spend his free time with his friends or just hang out at home.
