Gallery: Football Media Day

Football Media Day, hosted by SME Harbinger, took place on Friday, August 20 right after school in the cafeteria. A press conference was held with 10 different Varsity football players: sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The seniors interviewed included Kyler Haughton (DB/WR), Brian Heneger (OL/DL), Ryan Ward (LB/RB), Jack Muller (OL/DL), and Ben Leujte (LB/TE). The three juniors chosen were Ethan Curran (LB/TE), Parker Liese (QB), and CJ Leonard (WR/DB). The two varsity sophomores included Joey Hoffman (DB/RB) and Ryan Dehan (DB/WR).

The players elaborated on their strong team bond to help them be successful this season. Junior quarterback Parker Liese elaborates on what he is most excited about to be on the team this season. “I think the progress that we’ve made over this offseason has been tremendously impressive… I believe we will be able to change the culture at east and we’re going to be a very successful team” Liese says. By winning day by day and not giving up, the team believes they can change the mentality surrounding the football team and the mindset people have.

Starting off the season, varsity’s first game is home on Sept 3 against SM North. The game will be played at North Stadium at 7 p.m. The game will be played on Lancer Day and the theme is Blue Out, decided by Pep Club.

Photo Editor Macy Crosser believes there is no better way to spend her senior year than capturing photos or proofing captions in the J-room for Harbinger! If you can’t reach her (and you probably won’t), Crosser is either at drill team choreo, Kansas City Ballet, AP and IB classes, NHS Service chair meetings, TCP President duties or at dive team. Good luck finding her! In any spare time she has, there is a good chance she’s watching the sunset while listening to Taylor Swift, Celsius in hand.

Elise Madden

Entering her third year on harbinger as the head photo editor Elise is excited to take on the year with her co editor Maggie Merckens. Outside of harbinger Elise is involved in lacrosse, deca, student store, link crew, and AP classes. If she’s not taking photos on the sidelines of games, at dance, or babysitting you can find her with her laptop watching movies and shows in her room, or going to get sushi with her friends.

Tristen Porter, Staff Photographer

Senior Tristen Porter is going into her third year on staff as a photographer. Tristen is so excited to finish her years off strong and can’t wait to see what the year has in store. Tristen loves capturing moments for people to reminisce on for years to come. When she is not carving out time to go shoot any sports event possible, Tristen enjoys hanging out with her friends and being a host at Grunauer with her awesome coworkers, or modeling for Style Muse Magazine.

Elle Siegel

Going into her third semester on The Harbinger, Assistant Photo Editor Elle Siegel is excited for new opportunities for her junior year! In addition to Harbinger, Elle is in the chamber choir at East, has been figure skating since she was three and takes photos for Quite Frankly the Band. She loves to sing, dance and drive to East to get the best view of the sunset with her older sister and her wheaten terrier-poodle mix, Lucky.

Hadley Chapman, Photo Editor

Senior Hadley Chapman is beyond excited for her fourth and final year on The Harbinger staff as co-head photo editor and can’t wait to soak up every last moment and memory she can from her second family. When she isn’t overthinking every photo from a recent shoot in the back room, you can find her in the SHARE room with her fellow execs, out on the tennis courts or wrangling her zoo of pets at home. Whether it’s brainstorming portraits or begging for validation from Tate, she will find any excuse to be in the J-room and hopes to give back as much to this staff as it has to her.

Emily Pollock, Photo Mentor

Senior Emily Pollock is going into her last year on The Harbinger as a photo mentor. She is excited to spend her senior year at deadlines, in the J-room and on many photo adventures. Outside of The Harbinger she’s involved in tennis, swimming, DECA and lacrosse. When she isn’t shooting, you can find her at Starbucks, Barnes and Noble or hanging with her friends. Emily cannot wait to see what the year brings on The Harbinger.

Helen Rice

Sophomore Jill Rice is excited for her first year as a staff photographer. She can not wait to capture all the moments this unpredictable school year has instored for students. When she isn’t snapping photos, you can find her at cheer or gymnastics practice. To wind down at night, she enjoys a nice green tea and watching hours of TikTok and Netflix. Jill can not wait to meet so many new people and become part of the Harbinger family.
