The boys varsity swim team competed in the Sunflower state championship. The Lancers competed in all events during the course of the championship. The first event the swimmers competed in was the 200-yard medley. The Lancers who competed in the event were seniors Henry Hendon, Grant Kimmel, Sawyer Chapman and Henry Saylor. They placed third and received a time of one minute and thirty-nine seconds in this event. The next event that the Lancers competed in was the boys 200-yard freestyle. The Lancers who competed in the event were senior Briggs Perry, juniors Charlie Holloway and Emmet Lynch, and sophomore Hampton Boyd. Perry placed fifth in his heat and obtained a time of a minute and fifty seconds. In Holloway’s heat, he placed fifth and received a time of a minute and fifty seconds. Lynch placed sixth in his heat and received a time of a minute and forty-five seconds. Boyd placed fifteenth in the event and received a time of a minute and fifty-two seconds
The boys swim team, in the championship, obtained many personal records at the competition. For example, freshman Ben Walsh achieved a personal best boys 100-yard backstroke time of 58.32 seconds. This championship lasted two days and the Lancers competed with SM North, South, West. They also compete against Olathe, Blue Valley, Lawrence, and Wichita: North, East, South, West. And they also competed with Manhattan, Washburn Rural, etc. At the end of the tournament the points were finalized, and the top 3 schools with the highest points were in third was Maize with 156 points, second place was BV North with 218.5 points, and in first SM east with 290.5 points. The Lancers celebrated the championship by all the swimmers and coaches jumping into the pool.
