Wrestling Updates

Current Placements

  • The team is not placed or ranked at the moment.
  • Varsity wrestler senior Noah Jewel is the top performer right and is ranked fourth in the state. He has placed in every tournament the team has attended this season. Varsity wrestler Junior Quinn Higgins is also a top performer who just placed first in the Andover tournament.

Upcoming Competitions

  • The wrestling team will compete in the Sunflower League tournament on Feb. 7. This will be a dual tournament, meaning it is more team based so the wrestlers aren't being placed in brackets just by themselves. They will compete against SM West, SM North and SM South.

Strength and Weaknesses

  • The team has many strenghts, according to senior John Gagen, one being having good coaches that have taught them many new things. They also did well on their fundraiser this year which has allowed them to attend better meets and travel further to tournaments in Dodge city and Andover. Another strength is the team’s ability to out work their opponent on the mat at tournaments. Their primary weakness is having a smaller team so there are less people to compete.

“I think we've been able to hold ourselves to higher standards then we usually do” senior John Gagen
