Water Bottle Wars: Water bottle trends are impossible to keep up with and don’t benefit anyone

After seeing my TikTok “For You” page filled with people raving about their new 30oz Stanley water bottles, I was dragged to an endless amount of stores by my friends looking for the “petal pink” Stanley — only to see they’re all sold out.

Though I have fallen victim to multiple water bottle trends over the years, it doesn’t mean I need to continue filling my pantry. My bright pink Hydro Flask that has 10 dents doesn’t need to be replaced by an overpriced Stanley that doesn’t even fit in my backpack — but I feel pressure to change it out because of these stupid social media trends.

Why do I still find myself scrolling through Stanley’s website from time to time, glancing at different colors and sizes — in reality I don’t want one. I don’t even want one. These trends are one of the many things that you just need to have. TikTok manipulates the fact of needing to fit in with everyone — making you need to follow the new trend every couple of months.

There will always be a new water bottle trend — from the Swells that dominated the elementary school halls to the Gatorade bottles of middle school. The difference is those trends actually lasted for a couple of years, but now that social media allows trends to circulate faster than before, water bottles go out of style quicker than clothes.

I never pay attention to what someone is drinking out of one day so why should I care for other peoples validation of my water bottle?

People strive for validation of their things but when in reality, I never pay attention to what anyone’s drinking out of a particular day, so why should I care about the new water bottle that’s blowing up on TikTok?
