Wait, That’s a Holiday? Feb. 20th: National love your pet day

Whether you have a dog, cat or frog, it’s important to show your pets how much you love them because they show their love to us at all times by being by our side. With today being National Love Your Pet Day, take advantage of the nice weather and the day off and do something loving for your furry friends.

For pets like dogs and cats, spend time with them either outside or inside. Go on a walk. Throw a toy around. Get them some exercise while also taking a break for yourself. Your pets love nothing more than to spend time with you especially while getting exercise. Although they can’t say “thank you,” they’ll appreciate the attention and love you even more for it.

Similarly, driving your dogs to a dog park to run around is always a treat for them. Parks like the Leawoof Dog Park have beautiful, open areas for dogs to run around, play and socialize. They have different areas for dogs of varying sizes so all canines can be included in the fun.

While pets like gerbils, hamsters and even rats might not be able to go on a walk or take a trip to a park, giving them a few treats or even cleaning out their cage are both beneficial for them and for you. Pet owners can look up interesting and new foods like various nuts and vegetables for their pets and give them special treats that they might not get every day.

All pet owners can also treat their pets to a snack from places like the Brookside Barkery or Land of Paws. These stores offer fun cookies for dogs, cats and even rodents that take into consideration what they can and can’t have. These adorable treats are yet another way to say “I love you” to your pets.

Even people who have fish can pamper their scaly friends with things like new accessories for their tanks or a tank clean-out. No pets should be left behind today, so find ways to make today special for even the smallest animals.

Finally, all your pets really want is some time with you. Even spending 15 minutes giving attention to any pet will brighten their day so make sure to set aside a little bit of time for each and every one of your pets today.
