State Champs: East’s boys varsity bowling team wins the 6A State Championship

The boys varsity bowling team won the 6A Kansas State High School Activities Association State Championship at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kansas today.

The bowling coaches, social studies teacher Frederick Elliott and anatomy teacher Timothy Brill, attended the competition of 12 other schools alongside seniors Brady Aebersold, Noah Martin, Griffin O’Neill, Wally Workman and juniors, Zach Sederquist and Jack Shelton, all were members of the regional champion team.

Sweeping the competition with a total of 3,363 points, the boys were 107 points ahead of the second place team. Workman placed first individually with a series of 699 pins. Aebersold placed sixth and Shelton ninth. The boys collectively captured the title of winning East’s first boys state championship in bowling.

“Going into the baker games everything was really close and after our first two games, we knew we had it in the bag,” Workman said. “It was indescribable. We all didn’t know how to feel because it was so crazy.”
