Breaking: Shooter injures SRO and Administrator this morning at Olathe East High School

A shooting at Olathe East High School left a School Resource Officer and an Administrator injured, according to the Olathe Police Department.

The shooting was called in at 10:41 a.m. and police and emergency crews headed to the scene shortly after. The shooter made it to only the office area, and is now in the custody of the Olathe Police – there is no active threat at this time nor is there word on who the suspect is.

“All we know is that the scene at Olathe East is currently stable,” East SRO Anthony Woollen said. “Let everybody know that Shawnee Mission East is safe.”

There are currently no reports of injured students and students are being picked up by their parents from a closed Family Video store across the street from the school: 12708 S Blackbob Rd.

“Our hearts go out to those involved and those that had to see what they had to see,” Woollen said. “We’re all, administration and us, we’re always available to make sure things are as safe as possible here.

More to come later.
