Royal Blues: Current statistics and projections for the Royals’ 2024 season

Not even four games into the MLB’s 2024 season, the Royals have already struck out with a record of 1-3, yet there’s still 158 games left in the regular season for the Royals to shine.

The Royals currently are the 3rd team out of 30 in the MLB for home runs, 9th team out of 30 in walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP) with an average of 1.16 and a mediocre 18th place batting average of .230.

But with six injuries already, five of which are pitchers, it’s no wonder that the Royals are currently at 13th place for earned runs allowed and 3rd for home runs allowed.

Last year was one of the worst for the team, posting their lowest win total (56) since the 2005 campaign. Yet they did something rather unseen in the current version of the sport — they attempted to get better by signing mid-tier free agents and trading prospects for veteran players.

The current win total projection, with the 2023 season being 56-106 — the 2024 season is expected to have 73.5 wins according to SportsLine. The World Series odds are +15000 and the projected lineup consists of LF MJ Melendez, SS Bobby Witt Jr., C Salvador Perez, 1B Vinnie Pasquantino, DH Nelson Velázquez, 2B Michael Massey, RF Hunter Renfroe, 3B Maikel Garcia and CF Kyle Isbel.

Though the outlook for the season seems like an improvement to the last there’s still lots of room for improvement, leaving the season to be a roll of the dice.
