No Regrets: The new movie Regretting You was captivating and entertaining, with moments that will keep viewers hooked throughout the whole film

Sitting in the theater, just as the previews ended, my sister leaned over and whispered, “Just wait, you’re going to love this.”

Normally, I don't spend my free time in movie theaters, I'm usually outside with my friends or at home, doing something else instead.

But, not even three minutes into the new movie, Regretting You—a story about a teenage girl and her mom trying to rebuild their lives after a tragic event, I found myself smiling, laughing and even tearing up.

Throughout the movie, I was completely drawn in. Feeling everything from joy, suspense and mystery as the story unfolded and kept me on the edge of the red leather seat.

The general plot of the movie follows a close-knit friend group of four teenagers: Morgan (Allison Williams), Jonah, (Dave Franco), Jenny, (Willa Fitzgerlad), and Chris, (Scott Eastwood), Jonah's best friend.

Fast forward seventeen years, Chris and Morgan are happily married with a 16-year-old daughter, Clara, played by Mckenna Grace Meanwhile Jenny and Jonah are engaged and have a newborn.

Even though their teenage years have passed, both the families are still best friends.

This part was sweet because even though both their lives have changed so much, they still made room for their friendship.

But after a tragic accident happens, everything seems to go downhill.

Watching this moment in the theater was shocking. Right when the accident happened, you could hear everyone collectively gasp.

Confusion, grief and pain alter the charters lives drastically.

When Clara was crying on the couch after the accident, I felt she lacked emotion. The tears and expression on her face looked forced. Showing more of the pain she was feeling, could have left the audience more moved and impressed.

Even though their lives seemed to flip, Clara finds something that would cheer her up: someone to cheer her up.

Miller, played by Mason Thames, a popular boy at Clara's school, brings comfort and support to her through the pain and grief she is experiencing.

One night after working his shift at the movie theater, Miller stays late and secretly blocks off an entire theater so that Clara and Miller can have the whole theater to themself.

As they spend more time with each other, their friendship soon turns into something more.

Although Clara is happy with Miller, Clara's mom, Morgan, doesn't approve.

As tension rises, Clara and Morgan's relationship starts to become distant as disagreements and fights over each other's love lives make it harder for them to communicate and understand each other.

But over time, they make adjustments and agreements to better understand each other, finding their way back to their strong relationship. They realized no argument was worth losing the connection they share.

After the credits rolled, I couldn't stop smiling.

As it turned out, my sister was right. I loved the movie.

Regretting You wasn't just another basic romance movie. It has shocking surprises, comedy and suspense, having everyone on the edge of their seat. I was shocked by how much the movie had me hooked, waiting eagerly for the next scene.

I had many favorite scenes in the movie, but one that grabbed my attention the most was when Jonah gives Morgan all of the watermelon Jolly Ranchers, claiming he hated them. Later it's revealed that he actually loves them, he just wanted to give them to Morgan instead.

I thought that scene did a great job of portraying how Jonah truly felt about Morgan by showing how much care and valued he had for her.

The movie also had a soundtrack that matched the mood of every scene.

For example, The song, "That's So True” by Gracie Abrams, was played when Clara got asked to prom by Miller. Since her reaction was joyful and excited, and the song being upbeat and positive, it fit exactly with that scene.

Another reason the movie worked so well was its strong plot. It was well thought of, flowed naturally, and kept me intrigued from start to finish.

That being said, although there were many positives to the movie, some things were regretful.

Throughout parts of the movie, I thought the acting was a bit rough and dry at times.

The movie fell short with the lack of screen time and length in certain scenes.

Since the film was packed with unsuspecting surprises and drama, I think some parts needed more time so viewers could have more time to process, avoiding confusion.

For example, at first, it was Morgan's birthday party, and then five minutes later, you saw Clara picking up Miller off the side of a road. I was left with many thoughts—why was Clara not home? Where was she coming from when she saw Miller? I found myself wanting to press the rewind button many times.

But even though there were some negatives, I still enjoyed every scene from start to finish. It pulled me in, surprised me and left happy.

So if you're thinking about seeing Regretting You, don't hesitate. You wont regret it.
