Learning Link: An overview for the process to apply for Link Crew

Current sophomores and juniors have the chance to apply to Lancer Link Crew with the applications due at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 9.

The application requires filling out a Google Form, cover letter and a resume.

“We want students to be totally representative of the school population, so we want Link Leaders involved in all sorts of different things,” said Link Coordinator Hannah Pence.

The Google Form consists of basic information including name, grade, email and whether or not a student was on Link Crew during the 2022-23 school year. This would be someone who was a Link Leader last year or an A-Team Member — the select group of sophomores that helped with some of the “behind the scenes,” setting up games, handing out fliers and other jobs that helped the day go smoothly.

The cover letter should be addressed to Link coordinators Maggie Archer, Samantha Feinberg, Hannah Pence or Jeffrey Finnie and explain why the applicant wants to be on Link Crew. The coordinators are looking for students with past leadership experience and involvement in unique activities according to Pence.

The second part of the application process is the resume — which, according to Pence, should be visually appealing and include clubs, work, hobbies and sports involvements.

For the students who are selected as Link Leaders, the role will consist of orienting incoming freshmen. There will be 12 hours of training in August. Then on the first day of school for the freshmen, 2-3 leaders will show a group of 10 freshmen around throughout the day.

Another role of the job is to check in with the freshman throughout the year.

“I texted [the freshmen] for a long time for a long time after, I would check in with the freshmen that were in my group throughout the year, ” said senior and Link Crew Commissioner Kate Cronenwett.
