Lancer Dancer Spring Show: A preview of what to expect at this year’s Lancer Dancer Spring Show

The 2022 Lancer Dancer Spring Show will be held this Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Dan Zollars auditorium.

This year’s theme is “Turn It Up,” which is the theme for the junior varsity and varsity combined opening number, according to varsity captain and senior KayKay Winn.

Winn says the crowd can anticipate an upbeat opening number to start off the show, but the competition routines, camp routines, class dances, senior solos, “Mancer Dancers” and other recreational dances will also be showcased.

“It’s all going to be really exciting with hype music and moves,” Winn said.

The camp routines are something the team learned last summer and have never performed for an East audience while recreational dances are new choreography the dancers learned in the past few weeks. Class dances are specific routines dedicated for each grade level. And finally, the Mancer Dancer routine consists of every Lancer Dancer and their male partner, the Mancer Dancers, performing a group routine.

Coming home from Nationals on March 6 after placing 7th in jazz and 13th in hip-hop, the team had roughly one rest week before jumping into rehearsals for the show — pulling it all together in less than one month.

“It’s a ton of relearning old choreography while also learning new choreography for the class routines and Mancer Dancer routines,” Winn said.

$10 tickets can be purchased from a Lancer Dancer or at the door and students enter free with their student ID.
