‘Jesus is King’ Review: Kanye yields to God but keeps Ye-level arrogance with drums and Chick-Fil-A.

Co-EIC Ben Henschel, Photo Editor Ty Browning and Broadcast Editor Alex Dinyer review Kanye’s belated, new and controversial gospel album, ‘Jesus is King.’

Verdict? It’s great in most ways. Tracks like ‘Selah’ and ‘Use This Gospel’ line up with Kanye’s best, from the echoing crescendo of the “hallelujah”‘s on the former to the reunification of Clipse (and fantastic surprise-addition of Kenny G) on the latter.

Some parts are half-baked or corny — especially the Chick-Fil-A bit and Kanye’s lack of discussion into his conflict in finding Christianity. But the incredible, only-Kanye-could-do-this moments make up for them.
