On Tuesday, Oct. 31 the varsity boys soccer team hosted Olathe East in the State Tournament Quarterfinals. The Lancers beat Olathe East earlier this season.

The Lancers had to defend counter attacks while making attacks of their own early in the game. At the end of the first half the Lancers took two free kicks, the first was passed to senior Beck Rettenmaier and the second resulted in a shot on goal by senior Conor Neusel. The end of regulation resulted in a tie, so the Lancers went into overtime, consisting of two ten minute halves and two five minute halves; with the first team to score automatically winning. The Lancers held Olathe East to 0-0 in three of the four overtimes. Olathe East scored with one minute left in the last overtime after the ball was thrown into the box, ultimately ending the Lancers season. The Lancers concluded their season with a final record of 15-4.
