Gallery: Varsity Football Falls to Olathe West 45-34 at Senior Night

After a close game, varsity football fell to Olathe West 45-34 on Thursday, Oct. 21. Their senior night ceremony was before the game, where each senior player and manager was recognized and shared their memories. The East cheer clinic participants came to support the team and perform the cheers they had worked on at camp. East began losing 14-0 and then scored two touchdowns back to back, bringing the score to 14-14 to end the first quarter. Senior Ryan Ward scored a touchdown to begin the second quarter, bringing the score to 21-14. After a field goal by West, senior Kyler Haughton scored another touchdown to bring the score to 28-17 to end the first half. At halftime, the band celebrated their senior night and performed the halftime show with the Lancer Dancers. To begin the second half, Olathe West scored a touchdown, junior Parker Leise scored seven points, and after Olathe West scored two touchdowns bringing the score to West winning 38-34. Olathe West had a Pick 6 to end the game 45-34. After the game, the band and dance performed a “Glow Show” with glow sticks and lights while the stadium lights were turned off.

Varsity’s first playoff game will be played on Thursday, Oct 28th at CBAC at 7 p.m. It is an away game against Olathe Northwest.

Senior Kate Beaulieu is going into her third and final year on Harbinger as a Staff Photographer. When Kate isn’t taking sports photos, specifically lacrosse ones, she can be found babysitting, rewatching 10 Things I Hate About You, and hanging out with friends. During school hours, Kate is taking AP classes, playing tennis, being social media coordinator for the Freelancer, being a chair for Unified Teams, and playing varsity lacrosse. »

Emily Pollock

Emily Pollock
Senior Emily Pollock is going into her last year on The Harbinger as a photo mentor. She is excited to spend her senior year at deadlines, in the J-room and on many photo adventures. Outside of The Harbinger she’s involved in tennis, swimming, DECA and lacrosse. When she isn’t shooting, you can find her at Starbucks, Barnes and Noble or hanging with her friends. Emily cannot wait to see what the year brings on The Harbinger. »

Photo Editor Macy Crosser believes there is no better way to spend her senior year than capturing photos or proofing captions in the J-room for Harbinger! If you can’t reach her (and you probably won’t), Crosser is either at drill team choreo, Kansas City Ballet, AP and IB classes, NHS Service chair meetings, TCP President duties or at dive team. Good luck finding her! In any spare time she has, there is a good chance she’s watching the sunset while listening to Taylor Swift, Celsius in hand. »

Heading into her final year on Harbinger as a staff photographer, senior Audrey Condon is so excited to see what the year has in store. When she's not spending every waking hour shooting a sports event or desperately finding names for a caption, she can be found nannying, working out, or front row at the Lancer sports games. Within the walls of East, Audrey juggles AP classes, Varsity Softball, Link Crew, NHS, and Pep Exec duties. In her free time you can find her curled up with a book or enjoying her weekends out and about with friends. »
