Gallery: Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Rockhurst

On Friday night the Shawnee Mission East Varsity boys basketball team lost to the Rockhurst Varsity team 55-35 at East.  At halftime the score was 18-26 with Rockhurst ahead. The top three scorers of the night were junior Zane Meeks with 18 points, senior Jack Schoemann with eight points, and senior Kelyn Bolton with six points. “The atmosphere is absolutely incredible and it’s something I definitely look forward too. However, during the actual game you really don’t notice it. You are so locked in on trying to hear Coach Hair and the other players,” says junior Zane Meeks, ”it’s the best three hours ever”. Students started lining up for admission into both JV and varsity games at the end of seventh hour that day. East students lined up outside the doors to the gyms and Rockhurst students were lined up outside the pool entrance and were lead up to the gym by administration. The theme for both games was beach theme. The Varsity Lancer Dancer team performed a hip-hop routine at halftime and there was a basketball shoot off between two teams of three students from East and Rockhurst.
