Gallery: Varsity Baseball Defeats SM Northwest 1-0 in the First Round of Playoffs

The boys varsity baseball team defeated SM Northwest 1-0 in the first round of the playoffs, prior to winning the regional championship in an 11-inning game later that night. For the majority of the game, no runs were scored. Junior Jack Laird pitched for the entirety of the game and no runs were scored against him. In the top of the seventh inning, freshman Colton Sims hit a double, then ran to third. On a passed ball, Sims ran home to score the only run of the game. The Lancers won 1-0 to play against Olathe Northwest in the regional championships.

Immediately following the win against SM Northwest, the Lancers played Olathe Northwest for the regional championship. In an 11-inning game, the team scored to runs in the bottom of the 11th to win 5-3 and claim the Regional Championship. The team advances to state against Blue Valley West this Thursday, May 26 at 3:30 p.m. The state championship will be played at Fort Scott-LaRoche Baseball Complex.
