Gallery: The Whips at Prairie Village Block Party

The Whips, a band composed mainly of juniors of Shawnee Mission East, played for a block party on Oxford street on Saturday, October 20th. In the front yard of junior Sophia Kotar, the band set up their amps and instruments to entertain the 20 or so adults and children of the neighborhood. Starting right around 7:30, the band played for about an hour as the sun fully went down. The lead singer, junior Aidan Connelly, said, “it was a fun show, it feels good to mix it up and play somewhere other than a bar or a venue”. The other members of the band are juniors Quinn Cosgrove on bass, Vincent Lee on lead guitar, Miles Patterson on drums as well as sophomore Anna McQueeny of Sion on back-up vocals and although he wasn’t at the block party, senior Max Nabazas of Blue Valley North on guitar. The Whips next show will be November 3rd at Swope Park, they will be playing at an event that is trying to break the world record for most dogs walked at one time. The Whips will also be playing November 21st at The Roxy.
