Gallery: SHARE Volunteer Event at Scraps KC

East students volunteered at Scraps KC on Saturday afternoon from 2-4 pm as a part of the SHARE program. The event was organized by the SHARE Project Chairs, juniors Grace Kloster and Jamisen Ferren. Volunteers helped with tasks such as sorting buttons, colored paper and organizing donated items.

Scraps KC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food, clothes, and opportunities for the homeless to work, donating art supplies to teachers in need and providing fun art activities for less fortunate families by collecting various art-related items to reuse, repurpose, and resell.

The next volunteer opportunity will be Saturday, December 5 from 2-4 pm.

Diving into her third year on staff as a Photo Mentor, senior Annakate Dilks is absolutely thrilled to return to the wild adventure that is being a photographer. In addition to Harbinger, she is involved in Orchestra, SHARE, NHS, and an array of AP classes at East. When she’s not tackling her daily mountain of homework, you will likely find her at Meadowbrook Park, working at Pride Cleaners, or binge-watching the next “Recommended for You” Netflix show. »

Macy Crosser

Macy Crosser
Photo Editor Macy Crosser believes there is no better way to spend her senior year than capturing photos or proofing captions in the J-room for Harbinger! If you can’t reach her (and you probably won’t), Crosser is either at drill team choreo, Kansas City Ballet, AP and IB classes, NHS Service chair meetings, TCP President duties or at dive team. Good luck finding her! In any spare time she has, there is a good chance she’s watching the sunset while listening to Taylor Swift, Celsius in hand. »

Taylor Keal

Taylor Keal
Beginning her third year on the Harbinger staff as a photo mentor, Taylor Keal is excited to get back in the swing of shooting clubs, games, classes, and other east events. Taylor enjoys photography so much that she even started carrying around a small yellow digital camera with her wherever she goes to capture the best moments. When she’s not behind the camera, she is at her studio, Starstruck, dancing. In between dancing and photoing you can find Taylor participating in her other activities which include student store, DECA, SHARE, LINK crew and NHS. Outside of activities, Taylor enjoys hanging out with friends, taking naps, and going to McDonalds. »

Going into her senior year as a Photo Editor, Rachel cannot be more excited for her final year on Harbinger. Eva Berkley

Eva Berkley
Sophomore Eva Berkley is about to start her first year as a staff photographer. When Berkley is not taking action shots of her classmates you can find her in the SME gym playing volleyball, on the field playing lacrosse, doing charity work with The National Charity League, and hanging out with her friends. Berkley is super excited to be a part of the family and can not wait to be with everyone in the J room. »

Sabrina Dean

Sabrina Dean
Senior Sabrina Dean is sad to say it is her final year on The Harbinger. After 4 semesters of being on staff, none of which in an actual Harbinger class, she is thrilled to grow as a photographer. When she isn't waiting impatiently for her raw photos to load, you can find Dean buried in a pile of work from her IB Diploma classes, finding ways to make herself more busy, or playing for The SME Senate soccer team! Being a part of various clubs, NHS, Link Crew, SHARE Chairing, and Advisory Boards doesn’t stop Sabrina from having fun! When she is begging for a mental break she will be driving for coffee with her friends, figuring out how to become unbanned from snapchat, or working as a Lifeguard or a host at the French Market. All of this, of course, could not be done without Second Best Coffee or her dog, Taco, by her side. »

Emily Pollock

Emily Pollock
