Gallery: Latin Club Induction Ceremony

Nine new Latin club members were inducted into the Junior Classical League in a ceremony on Oct. 31. “There is a national ceremony that is sort of like this and we’ve adapted it to better fit our needs,” says Junior Nat Nitsch. Before the ceremony, she and the other officers dressed in togas and laurel wreathes. The ceremony itself includes lighting candles, “sacrificing” a pomegranate by cutting it open, and speeches by the officers. After the ceremony, the officers and inductees ate Roman foods such as wine (sparking grape juice), hummus, and pita bread.
