Gallery: Girls Varsity Soccer Defeats Olathe South 5-1

The SM East girls varsity soccer team defeats Olathe South 6-1 at Olathe District Activity Center, 11 games into the season with a record of 10-0-1. During the game, senior Campbell Brinton scored the first goal 22 minutes into the first half. Following their teammate, juniors Addy Newman and Lauren Mercer scored the second and third goals, ending the first half 3-0. Less than two minutes into the start of the second half, senior Mia Mosher scores against Olathe South. Mercer then scores in the 26th minute, making the score 5-0. Around five minutes later, an Olathe South player scores her team their first goal after SM Easts goalie junior Bella Tilgner and senior Louisa Holzbeierlein collide, leaving the goal open. Both get medical assistance on the field after the collision. Tilgner gets helped off the field first while Holzbeierlein follows getting carried by her coaches. Senior Stella Beaver subs in as goalie to finish out the game. The last goal was scored with 1:08 left on the clock, by sophomore Violet Casey. The Lancers defeated the Falcons 6-1.

The girls varsity soccer team has their next game on Thursday, April 30 against Olathe North at 7 p.m. at SMSD Soccer Complex.
