Gallery: Girls Varsity Soccer Defeats Olathe North 3-0.

The SM East girls varsity soccer team was announced as the KCTV5 Hy-Vee high school team of the week on May 1. The Lancers were recognized for their performance entering this game with a record of 10-0-1. On April 30, the Lancers defeated Olathe North 3-0, putting their record at 11-0-1. As of now, the girls varsity team is ranked second in the state of Kansas. At the start of the game, junior Lauren Mercer scored the first goal within the first three minutes of the first half. Not long after the first goal, senior Addison Stover scored the second goal of the game, putting the Lancers up 2-0, with 34 minutes remaining in the first half. For the rest of the first half, the Lancers prevented Olathe West from scoring any goals, ending the half with a score of 2-0. The last goal of the game was scored by junior Mia Mosher, who brought the Lancers to a 3-0 lead, where they remained for the rest of the game. 

The girls varsity soccer team has its next game on Tuesday, May 5 against Lawrence High at 7 p.m. at the SMSD Soccer Complex.
