Gallery: Girls Varsity Basketball Defeats Olathe North 39-29

The SM East community gathered to show support for junior Carlie Foutch at the girls varsity basketball game on Friday, Feb. 2. After a long fight against leukemia, Foutch passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28. In her honor, players wore warm-up shirts with Foutch’s jersey number, cheerleaders put orange hearts on their cheeks, Lancer Dancers tied orange ribbons in their hair and the student section was full of orange— the color of the leukemia awareness ribbon. At the half, the Lancers were ahead of the Eagles 16-14, continuing their lead into the third quarter, 26-20. The girls ended the game winning 39-29 against Olathe North.

The Lancers’ next game will be on Tuesday, Feb. 6 vs. Olathe East at 5:30 p.m. in the SME main gym.
