Gallery: Girls JV Basketball Defeats Blue Valley North 37-34

In a close game against Blue Valley North on Wednesday, Dec. 7, the girls JV basketball team held on to defeat the Mustangs 37-34. At the end of the first half, the Lancers led 20-13. In the third quarter, East was outscored 15-13, only leading 33-28 heading into the final quarter. The Lancers were led by sophomore Brie Murdoch with 13 points and sophomore Caroline Martucci with 8 points, which contributed to their 3-point victory. This was Coach Urick’s first win as a head coach. Urick, the varsity assistant coach, is filling in as the JV coach for Coach Schmitz while she is on maternity leave.

The next girls JV basketball game is on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Shawnee Mission East against Bishop Miege.

She is thrilled to jump right back into deadlines, hanging out in the J-room and just getting to go out and shoot. Along with Harbinger, Julia is also involved in tennis, swim, student store, DECA, Link Crew and SHARE. If she’s not doing one of those things, you can probably find her hanging out with friends, driving around, or in a Powerlife class. She can’t wait to see what the year brings! »

Junior Mason Sajna is excited for his third year on staff. As an equipment manager, photographer and multimedia staffer, Mason does a lot on the staff. Mason is pumped to see what this year has to bring, along with Cross Country, Track and Field and honors and AP classes. »

Lydia Coe
Senior Lydia Coe is entering her second semester on staff as a photographer, and is excited to apply her new skills that she has learned in Dallas. Some other things Lydia is a part of are SHARE, DECA, National Honors Society, National Charity League and one of the new managers of East’s coffee shop, Columbia Brew. In her free time, you would catch her nannying, hanging out with friends, listening to music, going on walks or hosting at the South Plaza Mission Taco Joint. Lydia is very excited to see what this new semester holds. »
