Gallery: Free Meal Pickup

East kitchen staff director Linda Bricker handed out free meals to parents, guardians and students on Friday morning from 6:30 am to 7:45 am outside the counseling office. The food hand-out is every Friday morning with food provided by the Shawnee Mission Food Services. Each person who picked up for a hybrid student received a total of ten meals for the upcoming week, five for both breakfast and lunch. Remote students received a total of 14 meals for the upcoming week, seven for both breakfast and lunch.

According to Bricker, the number of people who pickup meals has significantly decreased since the transition from remote to hybrid. When the district was in the remote learning model, there were usually between 40 and 50 people picking up meals at East every week. Now that the district is in the hybrid learning model, the number of pickups has dropped to less than 20 a week.
