Gallery: Diversity Club Union Field Trip

The Diversity Club Union went on its second field trip this year with Wyandotte students. Mr. Mu and Mrs. Fineberg chose twenty East students to go to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art on Friday.

“It’s important to discuss our differences with the Wyandotte kids because it helps us understand the experiences of other people,” said Senior Bryce Ainslie. “We have a diversity issue at [East] and many of our students are oblivious to the extent of it.”

Students listened to a presentation by artist Chico and analyzed artwork displayed at the museum by Nick Cave. Afterwards, the students created their own sculptures that were supposed to express their identity. Common themes included race, religion and background.
