Boys and girls cross country time trials occurred this past Saturday, Aug. 27 at Roe Park. The trials began with all of the girls who ran six and a half laps as quickly as they could to create a new personal record, and were followed by the boys. Both groups kept, consistent running paces which later led to a sprint for the last lap allowing them to finish their trial at the best time possible. Small groups broke off at both trials from varsity to c-team levels. The boys’ six laps began later in the morning making the trial hotter and more of a challenge to get to the finish line. After each runner finished their six laps, they were rewarded with a finisher card and their running time. The trials concluded with the girls quickest runner being junior Lida Padgett. As for the boys, the fastest time went to senior Wyatt Haughton.
Cross country’s first event of the season will take place on Saturday, Sep. 3 against St. Thomas Aquinas.
