Following the cheer tryout meeting on Monday, Feb. 27, pre-tryout clinics began on Tuesday, Feb. 28. These optional pre-tryout clinics were from 5:00-7:30 p.m. in the stage gym beginning on Tuesday, Feb 28. and ending on Thursday, Mar. 9. After taking a week off for spring break, the required cheer tryout clinics began on Monday, Mar. 19, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The three hours on Monday were used to teach the tryout cheer, tryout dance, review the fight song, and begin conditioning tryouts. Program and varsity coach MKilar Otte and freshman coach Carolyn Wolff ran these clinics and were responsible for scoring conditioning tryouts. Tuesday’s tryout clinic consisted of reviewing jumps and tumbling, and then free time to practice whatever felt necessary while the coaches began conditioning tryouts. The majority of time on Wednesday was spent participating in mock tryouts and doing sprints as the last portion of conditioning tryouts.
