Gallery: Boys Varsity Soccer Ties SMW 3-3 in their First Game of the Season

Starting off the season, the Varsity Boys Soccer Team tied SM West 3-3 with a student section packed full of students. East let in two early goals, but got back in the game when junior Jack Lucas scored the first goal of the season. Junior Miles Crosser was fouled by a West player in the penalty box with 15 minutes left in the half. Crosser scored on the penalty kick and tied the game 2-2. The team rushed to the student section to celebrate with the crowd, which was something they were not able to experience due to limited fans last year. Minutes before halftime, sophomore Conor Neusel took a shot towards the goal and scored. East was up 3-2 at the half.

In the second half, West scored a goal to tie the game 3-3. The game ended with the scored tied, and two-ten minute periods of overtime were added. Neither team scored in the allotted time, but the long game time gave the players cramps and many had to be subbed out of the game.

The team’s next game is on Tuesday, August 31 at 7 p.m. at SMAC against Olathe South.
