Gallery: Boys Varsity Basketball Falls to Lawrence Free State 49-46

In their last home game of the season, the boys varsity basketball team competed against Lawrence Free State on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The Lancers fell behind at the end of the first half — entering halftime with a score of 35-29. During halftime, the Lancer Dancers held their senior night honoring seniors Bella Hakes, Laynie Manning, Marin Mcelhinney and Liv Noble. After their senior night they preformed their hiphop routine. At the end of the fourth quarter with about four minutes left, the Lancers scored 13 points but were unable to outscore the Firebirds, ultimately being defeated 49-46. The team’s record now sits at 11-6.

The boys varsity basketball team’s next game will be against SM West on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at SM West.

Sophomore Lyla Weeks is starting her second year on Harbinger Staff and she couldn't be more excited. Outside of school, Lyla spends her time dancing on the SME Lancer Dancers dance team at East, studio dance and figure skating. She is beginning her first year on the SME Tennis team and is involved in many AP and Honors classes at East. She looks forward to all of the amazing opportunities Harbinger will provide for her and her peers this semester. »

Starting his second year on staff, junior Alex Sajna is ready for his second year of harbinger and to do his best as a photographer and videographer. When he’s not waiting for Adobe Premiere to render or taking photos, Alex is running XC, hanging out with friends or doing AP homework. »

Freshman Caroline Hoffman is excited to start her first semester on the Harbinger staff as a staff photographer. You will often find Caroline practicing dances for her studio and dance team and taking photos of her friends with her mini camera. Caroline loves hanging out with friends, volunteering and running NCL (National Charity League) Meetings as president of her class. Caroline can’t wait to show how truly amazing Shawnee Mission East is through her camera. »
