Gallery: Boys Varsity Basketball Defeats SM South 54-51 in Sub-State

Three timeouts were called in the last minute of the game with a four-point difference in the score. Holding their lead, the boys varsity basketball team defeats rival SM South 54-51 to advance to the Sub-State Championship. The Lancers lead the first half 22-17. Keeping their lead for most of the third quarter, they falter and start the fourth quarter down 35-31. The Lancers come back and score 14 points. With 3.2 seconds left, the score was 50-54, and South shoots two free throws. Making one and missing the other, the Lancers win the game 54-51. The student section stormed the court in celebration of beating their rival team, who they had lost to earlier in the season.

The boys varsity basketball team advanced to the Sub-State Championship on Saturday, March 5 at 6 p.m. at home. To show support to the Olathe East community, the theme for the game is orange out.
