Duck Donuts Leaves Ranchmart

The Ranchmart Duck Donuts location is set to reopen at a currently unannounced new location at the end of April.

After a year and a half in Leawood, the made-to-order donut shop closed its doors on March 1. The location had grown to the point where an expansion was necessary, according to junior and employee Annabel Huxtable.

“We just wanted a bigger space,” Huxtable said. “We had so many customers that it started to get crammed.”

Soon after Duck Donuts began frying and topping donuts in Ranchmart, it became junior Elisa Byers’ go-to spot for late start breakfasts with friends and birthday parties — and a frequented snack spot for a slew of East students.

“It’s like right by my house and it’s really good,” Byers said. “It’s kind of cheap and there’s always something new too.”

Duck Donuts won’t be going too far from their previous location, according to store owner Ryan McNeil. However, Byers plans on going once a month or less after the move because one of Duck Donuts’ biggest appeals to her was its convenient location, especially on Thursday mornings.

Additional updates on the details of the Duck Donuts grand re-opening will be announced on their Facebook page in the coming months.
