Breaking News: This year’s prom theme is “A Love Letter to the Cinema”

The prom theme for this year is “A Love Letter to the Cinema.” The prom committee announced the theme on its Instagram account today and is currently fundraising for the event, with a song request link and vision boards coming out next week.

“The goal is to make it feel like a red carpet if you're like an old Hollywood actor,” prom committee president and senior Shubra Durgavathi said.

After meeting weekly in prom committee sponsor and art teacher Emma Chalk’s room, the committee — consisting of 10 upperclassmen — discussed and decided on the theme when junior Dane Schwartz suggested the idea earlier this year.

“I haven't seen anyone else do it, and that whole thing is already perfect for taking photos, like having a red carpet and people dressing in super fun outfits,” Schwartz said. “It's already kind of prom-esque. So I was like, ‘It would fit pretty well.’”

After coming up with the theme, the committee then announced the theme through six clues released on Instagram periodically over five days.

Junior Tristan Higgins found out the theme from the prom committee’s Instagram post. She correctly guessed the first clue to the theme: “A Trip to the Moon.”

“I was kind of confused on how they’re going to decorate it at first,” Higgins said. “But I do like the theme, it sounds like it’s going to be fun.”

To help prepare for prom, the committee is asking for donations for students who can’t afford certain parts of prom, such as dinner, formal wear, tickets and more. Other donations include sponsoring hiring security, a DJ and buying decorations. Chalk is taking the donations by check through the mail.

Durgavathi said the committee is “always looking for donations,” as the donations barely cover the average of $25,000 expenses every year and there are some students who can’t afford prom.

“It just helps, you know?” Chalk said. “Students who need support with [affording prom], the money has to come from somewhere. So that's a really great way and reason to donate.”

Hi My name is Mona. I just want to share my experience with the world on how I got my love back and saved my marriage… I was married for 7 years with 4 kids and we lived happily until things started getting ugly and we had fights and arguments almost every time… it got worse at a point that he filed for divorce… I tried my best to make him change his mind & stay with me cause I loved him with all my heart and didn’t want to lose him but everything just didn’t work out… he moved out of the house and still went ahead to file for divorce… I pleaded and tried everything but still nothing worked. The breakthrough came when someone introduced me to this wonderful, great spell caster Dr Zuma, who eventually helped me out… I have never been a fan of things like this but just decided to try reluctantly cause I was desperate and left with no choice… He did special prayers and cast a love spell on him. Within 24hours he called me and was sorry for all the emotional trauma he had cost me, he moved back to the house and we continue to live happily, the kids are happy too and we are expecting our fourth child… I have introduced him to a lot of couples with relationship problems across the world and they have had good news… Just thought I should share my experience cause I strongly believe someone out there needs it… You can contact him on spiritualherbalisthealing@gmail.com
