Breaking News: Journalism adviser Dow Tate wins the H.L. Hall National Yearbook Adviser of the Year award

Journalism adviser Dow Tate won the 2023 H.L. Hall National Yearbook Adviser of the year award for his work with the East yearbook, the Hauberk.

This award recognizes exceptional high school instructors for their outstanding contributions in the past year and throughout their careers, according to the Journalism Education Association website.

Tate was recognized at the winter pep assembly on Dec. 15, following recognition of other awards won by journalism students. He was unaware that he was winning the award.

“I think it’s more fun for me that everybody else is excited, because it’s really all [of] their work,” Tate said. “And so the fact that [yearbook editors] Claire, Natalee, Caroline and Ella, they were getting a chance to enjoy the moment too. Because to me, it’s their work.”
