Breaking News: East students are participating in a national walk-out to protest gun violence

Willing students at East will be participating in a national walk-out to protest gun violence at noon on Wednesday.

The walk-out will take place on the football field. This was planned by the East Against Gun Violence club — run by juniors Eve Benditt and Emma Krause. Protesting students will stop whatever they’re doing at noon and move towards the field.

“We’re walking out because enough is enough,” Benditt said. “Shawnee Mission East and even Shawnee Mission School District can only do so much, [but the] real change has to stem from the government. We’re the future voters and our voices will be heard.”

The guns don’t have a mind. It’s the people that obtain them whether they are legal or illegal weapons and the ones in possession are legally or illegally have the right to carry.
Very seldom, the legal owner is involved in a gun crime.
You can make more gun laws that affect the legal owners because the ones using them don’t care about laws.
They’re the ones you should be protesting. We need the existing laws to be strengthen and punishment need to be more than a slap on the hand.
New gun laws will actually be ineffective since the majority of guns that are used are I’ll gotten (stolen, bought illegally, smuggled in to the country and handmade aka ghost guns).
So, put your emphasis on stronger penalties for the gun offenders and reinforce background checks and make a waiting period to allow thorough screenings can be done.
