Coalition Love Concert set for Feb. 22, open for bands to sign up

East’s Coalition club is hosting their annual Love Concert on Saturday, Feb. 22. The concert will be held at Village Presbyterian Church from 7 to around 9:30.

Coalition is looking for new and upcoming artists to perform. On average, each band plays anywhere from two to four songs.

Coalition asks for all soloists or groups who would like to perform at the concert to email Coalition sponsor Mrs. Fienberg who can be found at eafeinbe@smsd.org. The meeting will be held in room 514 on Thursday, Feb. 13.

The event is set to feature many artists from both East and other schools. So far, Barstow sophomore Christian Alldredge, senior Aggie Williams, senior Lucy Brock, senior group band The Whips and club sponsor David Mohhamad will be performing.

Coalition’s board has a meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13 to finalize their set list and figure out all last minute instrument issues.

Senior and Love Concert talent coordinator Olive Henry explains that Coalition is a student-run humanitarian group that focuses on helping the community and further charity in East.

“[The Love Concert] has been a big part of the East community for quite some time,” Henry said. “It is a great chance to show yourself off to fellow peers.”

Since the Love Concert is a fundraiser, Coalition requires a monetary donations of a few coins or a couple dollars at the door. All proceeds will be directly donated to different foundations that support Puerto Rico, which has recently been affected by a series of drastic earthquakes.
