BREAKING NEWS: Apple announces their new product lineup for 2020.

After much anticipation, Apple announced their new lineup for the 2020 tech season Sept 15 during their broadcasted event. Their new products consist of the iPad Air 4, iPad 8, Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 6, along with a new upgrade to iOS 14 and OS 14.

The new products and updates were announced during their free-to-watch streamed event, which is usually exclusive and in person, but was pushed online. There they announced the new technology, which has become an annual fall festivity.

They began with the release of Apple’s two, highly-anticipated iPads. There’s the iPad Air 4 — and upgraded version of the iPad Air 3 — and the iPad seventh generation was upgraded to the iPad eight generation.

The iPad Air has always been considered a high quality and affordable iPad compared to Apple’s most expensive iPad — the iPad Pro. Even so, the iPad Air 3 lacked certain features such as Face ID, compatibility with the second generation Apple Pencil and an upgrade from the A12 Bionic chip to the A14 chip. All of these desired features have been added into the new iPad Air. The new device also comes in colorful options, such as green and sky blue.

The iPad 8 is known to be Apple’s budget iPad, as it has many of the same features for the more affordable price of $329. This iPad has been upgraded with the A12 Bionic chip, two times the quality in graphics and is 40 percent faster than it’s previous version, according to the live-streamed event.

As for Apple Watches, they announced the Apple Watch Series 6, which start at the price of $400 This upgrade from the Apple Watch Series 5 includes new features such as the ability to measure blood oxygen level and generate an ECG — a test that checks your heart’s health — similar to a single-lead electrogram. It also includes an improved sleep app that can help you achieve your sleep goals, according to Apple’s website. These new watches start at $400.

Apple also introduced a new addition to their Apple Watch selection: the Apple Watch SE. This watch is a downgraded, more affordable version of the Apple Watch Series 6. This watch also includes most of the Apple Watch Series 6 features, minus the new Blood Oxygen app and ECG app, for a lowered price of $279.

Along with that, Apple upgraded the iOS and OS 13 on their devices to iOS and OS 14. This upgrade includes several already popular features, including Widgets on the Home Screen, the App Library, Compact Calls, Pinned Messages, Picture in Picture and more.

This update also brought changes to AirPods and AirPods Pro, such as low power battery notifications, automatic switching between devices, and surround sound for AirPods Pro users.

The Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 6 and the iPad 8 are all available to order today, Sept 18. The iPad Air 4 will be available for purchase in October and iOS and OS 14 are currently available.

While many of these products were anticipated and even expected, so was any news on the release of Apple’s new iPhone — the iPhone 12. But there was no mention of the iPhone 12 during Apple’s live event and many are expecting an update on the new phone in October.
