Breaking News: 2021 Sweetheart Court announced

The 2021 Sweetheart Court was announced on Thursday, Feb. 4, where senior Drew Parisi was crowned the Sweetheart King and senior Ava Peters was crowned the Sweetheart Queen.

“I wasn’t expecting [to win] at all,” Peters said. “I was just excited to see who was gonna win because there are so many nice, deserving people that I was with up there. Then when they said my name it took me a second to process because I just was not expecting it. I was just shocked and then I started walking up there with my parents and I was thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, I won somehow.’”

The second and first attendants for the Sweetheart King were seniors Sam Fountain and Graham Billingsley, respectively. For the Sweetheart Queen’s second attendant, there was a tie between seniors Riley Atkinson and Franziska Zueckert. The first attendant for the Sweetheart Queen was senior Lauren West.

In a year unlike any other, the Sweetheart Court ceremony was streamed via NFHS – the school’s broadcasting system — despite restrictions preventing a traditional in-person dance.

“I’m glad we still got to find a way to do it, even though it was very different,” Peters said. “It was something that kind of felt like a somewhat normal senior year, and seeing people and being able to do something fun through the school just made my night.”
