Breaking News: 2019-2020 Chamber Choir Announced

After five days of listening to hopeful performers sing through their vocal range, match pitches and sight-read music during the highly selective chamber choir auditions, choir director Ken Foley posted the list after the Disney spring show on May 1.

“I was in the car when I saw my name on the list and I screamed really loud and started crying,” sophomore and new chamber choir member Annie Elmore said. “My mom was right next to me and she started freaking out because she thought something was wrong. But then I said, ‘Mom I got into chamber choir! I got into chamber choir!’ and she started crying with me.”

The 14 new members were woken up on Thursday morning for a surprise breakfast at junior chamber choir member Paige Lynch’s house and spent the morning hanging out with the 10 returning members of the choir.

“I got there and was immediately greeted with warm, welcoming arms,” Elmore said. “Foley told us all that he was proud of us and we stood in a big circle and sang the school song. It was a really special morning.”

According to junior and returning chamber choir member Charlie Hill, all of the new members that he has met so far are talented musicians and good people. He thinks that next year’s choir will be especially close because they will get to sing together in Europe over spring break.

“The best part [about chamber choir] is all of the beautiful music that we get to make every single day,” Hill said. “I mean there are a lot of laughs and good times too, but at its core it’s really about the music.”
