Boys Varsity Tennis Updates: The boys tennis season starts on March 26

Current Placement

The boys’ tennis team is currently unranked in the Sunflower League since the season starts for them on Thursday, March 26. The boys have a record of 0-0.

Top Performers

There are no notable performers as the season has not started. The team has lost notable players from previous seasons, including juniors Brody Feldman and Aiden Bush. The team’s top players from the previous years have been junior Christian Clough and junior Christopher Long.

Upcoming Competitions

The first match of the season is on Thursday, March 26, at 3:30 p.m. at the Blue Valley Tennis Courts

Strengths & Weaknesses

“I think the players opting out definitely isn’t helping the team,” junior Aiden Bush said. “Not playing, but being in the college process, I wanted to skip this year to play more tournaments and then play next year.”

Injuries

There have been no notable injuries for the season thus far.

Lineup Changes

The Kansas State High School Activities Association doesn’t allow high school tennis players to compete in USTA and club tournaments. Players are also not allowed to train with their academies or have group lessons. These reasons cause players not to want to play high school to maintain their national ranking by playing in USTA tournaments and improving through academy training.

Juniors Aiden Bush and Brody Feldman have both opted out of playing tennis this year.

“I decided not to do high school because I wanted to play multiple tournaments, as Kansas doesn’t allow you to play multiple tournaments in a season,” Bush said.
