Boys Golf Updates

Placement

  • SM East is number one in the Sunflower League. They are projected to be in the top three at state, according to Coach Evan Scobie.

Top Performers

  • Seniors Elliot Cowden, Stuart Boulware, Porter Howard and Hudson Benish are top performers on the team. “Those four are arguably four of the top ten players in the state of Kansas,” Scobie said.

Competitions

  • The team played at Sunflower Hill Golf Course on April 21, where the State Championships are being held on May 26 and 27

Strengths

  • The majority of the team consists of upperclassmen including six seniors. This is significant because in total the team consists of around 20 people. “It's probably the best team I've ever had,” Scobie said.

Weaknesses

  • “Some of our guys have only played three or four tournaments so far,” Scobie said. The more tournaments played the more experience each player gets to better their game. They are playing less tournaments this year because there are so many boys on the team so, they need to split them up into smaller groups for each tournament.
