Library

On Thursday, Oct. 24, East library will be visited during seminar by author of “Carter Finally Gets It”, Brent Crawford. He will also be speaking to all of Mrs. Feinberg’s junior English classes and anyone other students that have read his novels.

Crawford, originally from the Kansas City area and a SM North graduate, has a connection to East because his father, Chuck Crawford, is a former East art teacher. “Carter Finally Gets It” is about high schooler Will Carter and the social situations he faces as a 14-year-old with ADD and a stutter. Crawford’s books are mainly geared towards male high school readers. Crawford began writing when his sister urged him to write novels for teenage boys dealing with high school themes that they would be interested in.

In addition to writing, Crawford has lived in Los Angeles and New York, actively pursuing an acting career. Crawford has written two books following “Carter Finally Gets It” entitled “Carter’s Big Break” (2010) and “Carter’s Unfocused, One-Track Mind” (2012)  “[His books] are just laugh-out-loud funny, he will be a very entertaining speaker. I’m really looking forward to him coming,” said East librarian Kathleen Knopp.
