Athlete of the Week: Ella Bunde

A Q&A about the upcoming volleyball season with Varsity sophomore Ella Bunde.

How long have you been playing volleyball?

I’ve been playing since third grade and I started club when I was 11.

What position do you play?

I play libero.

Why did you start playing?

I started playing club because I loved the game and I was friends with the people I was playing with.

Where do you play volleyball outside of East?

I play with KC Power.

How is club volleyball different than high school?

Club is more competitive than high school and I meet more people and travel more. I like that at high school I get to play with people I go to school with and are all ages besides just my own.

What are you most excited about for this season?

This season I’m most excited to see how we can improve from last season. I think that we have a chance of making it to state this year.

What has the team been doing to prepare for the season?

We’ve been doing strength and conditioning for the two weeks before tryouts to get ready.

Who is your biggest competition this season?

I think probably Blue Valley North because a girl that I used to play club with is on that team.

What is the team’s goal this season?

This year our goal is to play well together as a team so that we can make it to state.
