Art Club Sale: Art Club raises money during lunch

Art Club will be having its annual sale during lunch in the cafeteria on March 4-8 to raise money for the club’s activities throughout the school year. Everything will be $1 except for stickers and T-shirts, which are $2 and $10 respectively.

The money will go towards guest speakers, field trips, workshops and supplies for different projects. According to art teacher and Art Club sponsor Adam Finkelston, last year’s sale raised around $300. This being the only source of funding for the club, they hope to raise at least a couple hundred dollars, but there is no set goal as they do not want money as their prime focus.

“I don’t want money to be something that’s a key feature of Art Club,” Finkelston said. “We need money to do certain things that we want to do, but it’s more so having a venue for students to sell things that they make and just raising the visibility of the club.”

Art Club students created the different designs and art found on the items being sold. These items include buttons, stickers, T-shirts and zines — short magazines made from a folded piece of copy paper.

Art Club President and junior Sydni William is responsible for running and planning the sale. She has taken all the students’ designs, and transferred them on to the sale items and also worked on arranging the event.

The sale was originally scheduled for the week of Feb. 18-22., but was rescheduled due to snow days.

“It will be really nice just to get some student art around the school,” William said. “We got some really talented artists and I don’t think the complete student body realizes that.”
