An Unspeakable Triumph of the SME Theater Department: The theater department will be preforming “An Unspeakable Triumph of Supreme Brilliance” on Nov. 3-5

The theater department is performing their fall play — “An Unspeakable Triumph of Supreme Brilliance” — by Don Zolidis every night Nov. 3-5 at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 or free with a student ID upon entry to the Dan Zollars Auditorium.

The comedy is intended for all audiences and perfect for families in the community, according to the cast.

“Little kids are probably not going to understand [the play], but people our age will really enjoy it,” actress playing “Audrey” and senior Delaney McDermed said. “Our parents will also probably like it.”

The play follows the story of nine actors in a small town in Minnesota who are challenged to produce an award-winning play in two days in order to win $10 million. It follows the conflicts and funny complications that they encounter on their 48-hour road to creating a fantastic play with little time and resources.

“It’s definitely a very physical comedy,” director and English teacher Brian Cappello said.

The physical comedy will involve fewer scripted jokes and more physical or acted out humor.

All “curse words” and scenes that would be too difficult for the cast to perform were cut, but the production follows the majority of the original script.

“With any show, stuff ends up getting moved around,” McDermed said. “But for the most part, it’s the same as the original script.”

The cast feels prepared and excited to show off their hard work and practice, according to McDermed and Cappello.

“It’s a really, really awesome, fun show, and everyone should come watch it,” McDermed said.
