The boys’ basketball team is on a five game winning streak after Tuesday’s win against Olathe East, while the girls’ basketball team lost to Olathe East in a hard fought game. Wrestling placed 3rd in the Sunflower League Meet, and swimming prepares for state.
Girls’ basketball placed 5th at the Topeka Tournament last weekend, while the boys’ beat Rockhurst, and swimming prepares for Regionals.
The Lancer boy’s basketball team will play St. James this Thursday, Dec. 6. The game is part of a tournament being hosted by Shawnee Mission East. Boys’ swimming had their first meet Saturday but suffered a bad loss as they were missing some of their top swimmers.
Though underage drinking is not a new problem to SM East, the recent spike in athletes with Minor in Possession (MIP) charges is causing administrative concern.
The Boys’ Swim Team had a strong performance at state while the bowling team struggled at their last meet. The wrestling team will be heading to state over the weekend taking a full line-up for the first time in school history.

The Bowling team competed in a triangular meet against Shawnee Mission Northwest and Saint Thomas Aquinas. Both the Boys and Girls team got second place.
