Preview: Boy’s Swim and Dive State

Though the boys JV swim team completed their season last week after JV league, the varsity swimmers haven’t finished quite yet. In preparation for state this Friday and Saturday, they’ve been resting up, taking practices easy, and of course, shaving most of their bodies.

Fresh from a first-place victory at league, the team feels they are prepared for state. 20 varsity swimmers have made the time-cuts and have qualified for state. Yet, even with their best on the forefront of the battle, they are hesitant to predict an East victory.

“It’s going to be a really close meet,” sophomore varsity swimmer Tom Peters said. “Any team could win. It’s between Wichita East, Blue Valley North and us. I think we’ll do well.”

Already this season, the swim team has broken three  Sunflower League records; Peter Milledge in the 50 free, the team’s 400 free relay and the 200 free relay.
